Juarez City deemed as a critical threat as a result of violence: US
The United States government designated, for the second consecutive year, Juarez City, Chihuahua as a city with a critical threat due to the violence derived from the fight against drug trafficking.
In its Annual Security Report on this border city, the State Department reports 2,640 homicides during 2009.
The report attributes such homicides to the fight between drug traffickers, but warns that other types of crime also impact the population.
